Courier: Messaging in Perl with Spread (Leon Brocard)

The talk will introduce the concepts behind messaging services and their applicability for enterprise systems. Messaging allows systems to transfer data frequently, immediately, reliably and asynchronously. The talk will focus on the Spread Toolkit message bus and a Perl module, Courier. It will cover the issues involved in developing code using message systems such as message data formats, message rewriting, and messaging gateways. It will finish with deployment in a distributed, resilient environment including system management and monitoring.
